If design trends overseas are any indicator on how the building industry in the States might be moving towards, then I wouldn't be surprised to see more living walls used as prominent architectural elements. These "green facades" while aesthetically pleasing will no doubt cost a pretty penny to not only install but to properly maintain. In addition, you have to remember that for many plants you will have to constantly re-circulate water through a drip irrigation system so it make sense to couple these systems with a rainwater catchment system.
